339. Toronto Christmas Market

Celebrate the traditional sights, scents, and sounds of Christmas at the Toronto Christmas Market! Taking place in the Distillery District, this event captures all of the charm of a European Christmas Market, complete with family friendly entertainment, a ferris wheel, Rudolph’s Reindeer Zoo, Santa and his roaming elves, specialty beer and mulled wine gardens, and the opportunity to purchase unique and locally crafted gifts.

In addition to plenty of activities and fantastic shopping opportunities, the Toronto Christmas Market is an excellent time to discover the Distillery District when it is at its most beautifully. A forty foot Christmas tree compete with 18,000 lights and ornaments stands at the centre of it all, while the whole district is transformed by lights and seasonal décor.

Ah, the Labour Day Weekend – the last “hurrah” of summer. Spend the Saturday of your long weekend in the Historic Distillery District and enjoy the ArtFest Outdoor Art Show! You’ll have the opportunity to check out Canadian art, including paintings, photography, sculptures, printmaking and mixed media. 207. The Glass Menagerie

A four-character memory play by Tennessee Williams, The Glass Menagerie first premiered in Chicago in 1944. Williams reworked the classic play from one of his short stories, “Portrait of a Girl in a Glass,” and is thought by many to be an autobiographical play about Williams’ life.

The Glass Menagerie will be brought to life by the Soulpepper Theatre Company at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts tonight at 7:30pm. 181. “Beer Makes History Better” Tour

Since the early 1800’s, Torontonians (then Yorkians?) have produced beer. Toronto Urban Adventures will guide you through the streets of the old Toronto, introducing you to the history of the regional craft brews you love. You’ll learn what role beer played through the decades of Toronto, visit a few unique and historical pubs, hear about the early history of our city, and partake in a beer sampling at the end of the tour!
