295. 9th Annual Toronto Zombie Walk

October 22, 2011

Halloween is only days away, and what better way to celebrate than by participating in the 9th Annual Toronto Zombie Walk?! The Zombie Walk started in 2003 with a handful of zombies making their way through the streets of Toronto; each year, the zombie count has grown, and zombies have walked the streets in New York, Vancouver, Ottawa, Melbourne, and cities around the world (apparently zombies love to get together and go for a walk, no matter what country the live…um, die….in.

Toronto Zombie Walk

Join in the zombie fun today – get dressed up like the undead and bring your friends along (they should probably dress like zombies too, or their brains may be in danger). For tips on making yourself look like a zombie, route information, and ways in which you can make a donation to the Toronto Zombie Walk, go to www.torontozombiewalk.ca.

291. Ghosts

October 18, 2011

One of Henrik Ibsen’s most provocative works, Ghosts is a “scathing indictment of what [Ibsen] perceived to be a corrupt and misguided morality rampant in his society.” Viewed from our perspective today, it is difficult to understand the outrage with which this play was met when it was first staged in 1882, but Ibsen’s use of prose and dramatic revelation is timeless and endures in its ability to affect audiences even 129 years later.

Ghosts

Soulpepper’s staging of Ghosts continues until mid-November; today’s performance is a matinee at 1:30pm at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $50.86 for adults and $31.65 for students. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.youngcentre.ca.
