211. Scotiabank Caribana Festival Parade

July 30, 2011

As North America’s largest Caribbean Parade, it’s no surprise that over one million people check out all the fun of Toronto’s very own Caribana Parade! All the excitement gets started at Exhibition Place as competing Masquerade Bands (or Mas Bands) fill the stadium with the sounds of Soca, Calypso and Steelpan music! Get ready to witness the costumes, dancers, and bright colours that bring it all to life as you celebrate the beginning of the 2011 Caribana Festival!

Caribana Parade

Take in the Parade free of charge by lining up along the Lakeshore Parade route, or purchase a ticket for $20 + tax to catch the Mas Bands battle it out in Exhibition Place. The Parade starts at 1pm and continues until 6pm where the Parade route wraps up at Lakeshore and Parkside Drive. 184. Toronto Pride Parade

July 3, 2011

Starting at 2pm today, the Toronto Pride Parade will finish off our city’s Pride Week with a bang! It all gets underway at Church and Bloor, with the parade finishing at Church and Gerrard – find your spot on the route somewhere on Yonge between Bloor and Gerrard to be in the centre of all the action!

Toronto Pride Parade

Pride Toronto encourages participation in the parade by all groups, including businesses, organizations, and community groups, suggesting that paraders tell their stories “through Art Direction, Costume Design, Choreography, (Sound/Music) Mix and Special Effects,” “go glitz & glam” and “be colourful and creative.” Needless to say, you can rest assured that this will be one vibrant and lively parade! Special mention will be awarded in several categories including “Best Art Direction,” Best Celebration of the Theme,” “Best Drag” and more!
