304. Halloween Party at Church & Wellesley Village

Halloween is a HUGE deal in Church & Wellesley Village! Don your costume and head to the neighbourhood for Pride Toronto’s Halloween Party at Cawthra Park! You’ll see some of the most elaborate and unique costumes during this party, where people from all over Toronto get together to celebrate the biggest dress-up party ever. The block party is the culmination of Halloweek, a week long event of Halloween-themed events including contests for the spookiest store exterior/interior, Church Street Drag and Leather Boo-zarre, and the 3rd annual Church Street Jack O Lantern competition.

303. Pedestrian Sunday

We’ve featured Pedestrian Sunday on 365Toronto before, but today’s event is a special Halloween celebration. With an “Honouring Our Ancestors” theme, you can be sure that this Pedestrian Sunday will be an event you won’t forget! As usual, the streets of Kensington Market will be vehicle-free from 12pm to 7pm for this pedestrian-only event, giving you the opportunity to explore the shops, meet the people, and enjoy the one-of-a-kind atmosphere of Pedestrian Sunday in a new and exciting (and possibly “spooky”) way!

302. All Hallows Eve + Howling Hootenanny

Only two more sleeps to Halloween – get in the spirit at Black Creek Pioneer Village! Participate in two special events today: All Hallows Eve and Howling Hootenanny. All Hallows Eve features a “Ghost Tour” around the village to learn the ghostly history of Black Creek. Howling Hootenanny offers kids the opportunity to enjoy a “Haunted Maze,” pumpking carving, apple sling shot, trick or treating and more!

300. Halloween Howl

Gather at the Toronto Zoo tonight from 6:30pm to 8pm for a night that will have you “howling with excitement!” This adult program addresses the unique characteristics about wolves and their primary communication tool: howling. At the end of the evening you’ll have the opportunity to work on your own howl – see if the Arctic wolves will respond!

297. Toronto After Dark Film Festival

Be afraid…be very afraid. The Toronto After Dark Film Festival is ready to spook and scare you with eight nights of horror, sci-fi, action and cult movies! Taking place at the Toronto Underground Cinema from October 20th to 27th, you’ll have the opportunity to get thoroughly frightened just in time for Halloween, as the Festival showcases some of the creepiest new films of 2011. Previous years’ festivals have premiered films such as The Last Exorcism, Let the Right One In, Dead Snow, Repo: The Genetic Opera, Robogeisha and Black Dynamite, so who knows what you’ll have the opportunity to see (or peek at from behind your hands over your eyes!) at this year’s After Dark Film Festival!

296. Boo at the Zoo

October 23, 2011

Perhaps you passed on yesterday’s event because you…or your children…are prone to nightmares when it comes to zombies. Today’s event may be more your speed: Boo at the Zoo! Two kids in costume (12 and under) get in free to the Toronto Zoo when accompanied by an adult during this event, and there’s plenty of Halloween-themed activities and exhibits to explore! Follow the Pumpkin Trail to discover trick-or-treat activity stations throughout the Tundra Trek area, where you can meet Arctic wolves, foxes and polar bears. Take part in the Critters and Costumes Parade at 12pm and 2pm daily, and of course, explore the rest of the Zoo (in costume!)

295. 9th Annual Toronto Zombie Walk

Halloween is only days away, and what better way to celebrate than by participating in the 9th Annual Toronto Zombie Walk?! The Zombie Walk started in 2003 with a handful of zombies making their way through the streets of Toronto; each year, the zombie count has grown, and zombies have walked the streets in New York, Vancouver, Ottawa, Melbourne, and cities around the world (apparently zombies love to get together and go for a walk, no matter what country the live…um, die….in.
