A co-production of The National Ballet of Canada and The Royal Ballet, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a new, full-length story ballet by choreographer Christopher Wheeldon. Of Polyphonia fame, Wheeldon is well known for his choreographic marriages of neo-classical and modern dance styes, and Alice continues that tradition.

Based on Lewis Carrol’s book, the ballet captures the imagination of young Alice, and includes all the beloved character’s of Carrol’s well-known tale. Meet the Cheshire Cat, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, wise caterpillar and more in the beautiful retelling of this tale through the medium of ballet. Watch as Alice falls through the Rabbit Hole, attends a bizarre tea party, witnesses a dangerous croquet match, and hears the Queen order “off with her head!” before waking up to find that it was all a dream.

Tickets for tonight’s 7:30pm performance of Alice in Wonderland range from $24.04 (in Ring 5) to $226.87 in the Grand Ring. All performances take place at the Four Seasons Centre for Performing Arts. Ever dreamed of flying? Aerial arts may be the closest you’ll come to taking flight without the aid of an airplane. At the Centre of Gravity Vaudeville Theatre & Circus Training Studio, you can learn aerial hoop, silks, or static trapeze from a trained circus professional. Not only will this Wednesday night drop-in class have you ready for life under the big top; you’ll develop core strength, flexibility and confidence as you spend time suspended in mid-air under the watchful eye of your trainers.

Join more than 2,000 women as they run/walk through Sunnybrook Park in support of the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario. Not only do part of the proceeds of this race go towards a very good cause, this race is one in a series of Toronto Women’s Runs, specifically geared towards female runners to “motivate and inspire women to come set the pace” while enabling them to “be active, fit and involved.”

Though registration is complete for today’s race, come cheer on the runners at 8am as they kick off the half marathon, and at 8:20am for those running the 5k. Get inspired, and maybe even consider participating in one of the other Toronto Women’s Runs on August 27, 2011, or October 29, 2011! Doors Open Toronto is one of our favourite events at 365Toronto! If you’ve never experienced this unique weekend, make sure you check it out this year! Today and tomorrow, Torontonians and tourists alike will have the opportunity to explore several of Toronto’s most architecturally significant buildings, buildings that are typically not open to the public – and it’s all free! Last year’s roster of buildings included City Hall’s podium green roof, the Drake Hotel, Evergreen Brick Works, the John St Roundhouse, Kasian Architects, Old City Hall, the Redpath Sugar Refinery, St. James Cathedral, the Textile Museum of Canada, Regis College and many more! You’ll get tours of these buildings, find out about their history, their current use, and even learn about some of the myths/urban legends that surround some of Toronto’s most historic structures.

The Clothing Show is especially well known as Canada’s largest vintage and new independent designer show, so you can be sure to find one-of-a-kind, local designs.
