105. Green Living Show

April 15, 2011

Toronto’s premiere “green” event, the Green Living Show, starts today at the Direct Energy Centre!

Green Living Show

Last year, guests included Colin Firth, former Mayor David Miller, and Olympic medalist Clara Hughes, so you can only imagine who the “green celebrities” will be this year! The 2011 Green Living Show has several new attractions, including a TD Energy Fair, Ecomentors Conference, Green Jobs Forum, The Good Eats Market, and The Beer Experience, but “old favourites” such as the Green Business Forum, EcoKids Zone, Cooking Stage, and Green Toronto Awards will also be part of the festivities.

Not only will you have the opportunity to take in fantastic presentations and learn plenty of eco-friendly tips and tricks to “green” your life, 400+ exhibitors will be selling their green wares and services – you can shop ‘til you drop with a clear conscience!

Admission to the Green Living Show is $12 for adults. Want to go for free? Recycle electronic waste at the Show, and you won’t have to pay! For more information on the show, visit www.greenlivingonline.com.

104. Design Talks – Kitchen and Bathroom Design

April 14, 2011

A beautiful kitchen and bathrooms can make or break the sale of your home; in fact, real estate experts estimate that approximately 80-90 percent of the money spent making improvements to the kitchen and bathrooms can be earned back in resale value. Replacing those countertops, refinishing those cupboards, putting in a new vanity, or even simply adding a few great hand towels can make all the difference in replacing that “For Sale” sign with “Sold!” Even if you’re not planning on selling your home, re-imagining your kitchen and bathrooms will give your house, condo or loft a breath of fresh air, transforming the entire space.

Kitchen and Bathroom Design

Our April Design Talk is all about making the most of your kitchen and bathrooms. Lucy Campos-Gentile, Principal Interior Designer of TO DESIGN CO, will lead our discussion, helping us to learn what changes make the most impact, how to plan for an effective remodel/redesign (no matter what your budget), and giving us plenty of ideas and examples from her own beautiful kitchen and bathroom transformations! Join us on April 14, 2011 at Urban Mode at 7:00pm for this next event in our series of Design Talks.  Purchase your ticket at http://kitchenbathroomdesign.eventbrite.com/.

103. Children & A Few Minutes of Lock

April 13, 2011

The Harbourfront Centre presents Nigel Chamock’s Children, a dance of “ecstasy and agony” as two people try to “stay together for the sake of their kids.” The second piece of the evening, A Few Minutes of Lock, includes excerpts of three Édouard Lock duets.

Children + A Few Minutes of Lock

Performed by Canadian dance icons Louise Lecavalier and Fou Glorieux, this event is not to be missed. Lecavalier has not performed in Toronto since beginning her own dance company in 2006; at 50 years of age, the dancer brings a unique perspective to her work, examining the beauty and relevance of dance through the lens of time.

Tonight’s performance starts at 8pm and is the first of four shows. As such, the performance will be followed by an Opening Night Reception at the Watermark Irish Pub and Restaurant (located in the Queen’s Quay Terminal). Tickets for the show are $45. To purchase tickets and for more information on the evening’s performance, go to the Harbourfront Centre’s website.
